#1520 16th / 17th Century Chinese Ming Dynasty Bronze Lion circa 1550 - 1640**SOLD** September 2017
Only 1 left in stockA bronze Lion with its original dark patination made in China, possibly as a censer, during the Ming dynasty (1368-1644, most likely during the 16th or early 17th Century.
Condition: there are some very old losses to the applied decoration - a part of the "beard" is missing,the right ear has been re-attached and the base has an old wood block infill; there has been no restoration.

Only 1 left in stockA cloisonne enamel jar and cover, profusely decorated with multi-coloured stylized flowering peony shrubs. On the base is written 'CIHNA' confirming that this item was made in China for export during the late 19th or early 20th Century.
Condition: excellent - no damages or losses and mo restoration.

#1045 Very Large Chinese Archaic Style Bronze Hu Vase Ming Dynasty 1368-1644 **Price on Request 售价待询**
Only 1 left in stockA massive bronze (copper tin alloy) vase cast in Han dynasty Hu shape and with Han style Taotie mask handles. The archaistic style decoration is an amalgam of Shang and Zhou dynasty motifs. These consist of upper and lower bands depicting stylized dragons and a central band of large Taotie ("monster"} masks. All are reserved against a flattened Leiwen (cloud) daiper ground. Below the upper two horizontal bands are pendent 'Cicida Blades'.
An accompanying 1973 British Museum letter suggests an 18th/19th Century dating but more recent scholarship has confirmed that this item was made earlier, during the Ming dynasty (1368-1644).

明代饕餮纹兽耳环大铜壶
整体汉代铜壶形制。仿古花纹兼有商周之风:上下两圈云雷纹背景上各有夔龙纹和饕餮纹,两圈下各有一圈蝉纹装饰。

Only 1 left in stockA rare and very finely enamelled cloisonne ewer (wine pot) made in the Beijing Imperial workshops, in the early 18th century, during the reign of either the Kangxi (1662-1722) or the Yongzheng (1723-1735) emperor..
Condition: very good but without its cover; there are very small chips and burst bubble holes to the surface of the enamels in places but no bumps or damage to the shape or to any of the wires; the gilding to the mouth is largely worn off but the gilding is still present on most of the base and wires.

Only 1 left in stockA rare and unusual 18th Century Gu form copper vase decorated with flower scrolls in bright famille rose enamels against a blue ground. The central copper section is engraved with three archaic style Taotie masks. This item was made in China during the reign of the Qianlong emperor (1736-1795).
Condition - excellent - there are some stress marks to the white enamel inside the rim but, unusually no damages and losses and no restoration.

#0294 Rare Mid 18th Century Chinese Enamel Wine Ewer Qianlong **Sold to China - March 2011 售至中国 - 2011年3月**
Only 1 left in stockA rare and very well painted enamel wine ewer - with documentary decoration in Chinese taste possibly depicting the story of the Daoist Immortal Lu Dong Bin. This item was made circa 1740 during the reign of the Qianlong emperor.
Condition - there is an 18th Century iron replacement handle; there are surface marks and there are enamel losses around the finial on the cover( enlargement no.6) and to the tip of the spout (enlargement no.1). There is a 0.5cm impact enamel loss to the lower part of the back panel (please see enlargement no. 3).

#0110 Chinese Bronze Censer Arabic Inscription Xuande mark **Sold** to Switzerland - OCT 08 售至瑞士 - 2008年10 月
Only 1 left in stockA heavy Ming style bronze censer bearing the inscription - "There is no God but Allah and Mohammed is his prophet". Similarly inscribed bronzes and porcelain were first made for the Imperial court during the reign of the Zhengde Emperor (1506-1521) but this item is probably later. The base carries a four character Xuande mark.
Condition - very good.

Condition: There is no cover and the handles have been removed. There are losses to the ear of one elephant and to the trunk of the other, with one exception, all the semi-precious stones which would have been set in the elephants headresses are missing.
