Condition: there is surface wear and the original red elastic inside will need to be replaced if this item is to be used.

#1630 Rare Bronze Vase with Iznik Style Decoration from Japan, circa 1890 - 1910
Only 1 left in stockA bronze vase finely cast in archaic Chinese style with twin elephant head handles and very unusually decorated with 16th Century Turkish Iznik/ Kutahya style 'Saza' leaves in red, blue, green and black enamels. The Made in Japan mark to the base indicates that this item was made in Japan (for export) post 1890.
Condition: excellent - there are minor losses to the enamels but no damages and no repairs or restoration.

Similar, more recently made, vessels decoratively customized to Western taste, are pictured in the 1907 catalogue of the Army and Navy Co-operative Society (department store) and in the 1913 Christmas catalogue of A.W. Gamage Ltd (Gamages) of Holborn, London described as "Syrian raised Brass Heart Shape Fern Pot No.X.2"; and also

Only 1 left in stockA rare burnished red earthenware foot rasp, in the form of a stylized crouching crocodile, probably made in Asyut (circa 1850-1920), for use in the Egyptian public bath house. There is a very similar example in the Pitt Rivers Museum (University of Oxford: http://web.prm.ox.ac.uk/bodyarts/index.php/temporary-body-arts/toiletries/50-footcare.html .
