#1790 Rare 19th Century Chinese Five Dragon Six Sided Hat Stand Tongzhi Mark **Sold** to China, April 2020

A rare 'Famille Noir' Chinese porcelain hat stand depicting five white four clawed dragons in flight over breaking waves amongst stylized clouds and flames on a black enamel background. The base carries an iron red seal mark of the the Tongzhi emperor (1862-1874) and was possibly made during his reign.

Condition: there are glaze losses to the enamels particularly on the vertical edges. There is a crack running from the rim to one of the ear cup shaped apertures. There have been no repairs or restoration.

27 cm / 10.6 inches high

12.2 cm / 4.75 inches across.

黑底粉彩，五条白龙盘旋于云彩间，靠近底部绘有海水纹。底部红色六字篆书款“大清同治年制”，可能为同治年间所做（1862-1874）。品相：有些许釉彩脱落的现象，尤其是六条棱角处；自顶部至一镂空部分有一处裂痕（见图七）。无修补或修复。 高27厘米，最宽处12.2厘米
