A small 17th century teapot, delicately painted in underglaze cobalt blue, depicting a scholar under a pine tree .There is a poem on the reverse side. The poem reads - "The day go fishing at Shui River. the morning having dream on Qi Shan Mountain." Both are famous locations in Shaanxi province, central northern China. This item was made in China during the reign of the Kangxi Emperor (1662-1722).

Condition - There is a crack at the base of the handle and there is production glaze loss at the back of the handle. There are a number of tiny burst glaze bubbles - the largest being to the underside of the spout.

Height 3.2 inches (8cm) Length 4.5 inches (11.5cm).
