#0608 Large Chinese Han Dynasty Hu Vase (206 BC to AD 220)
Only 1 left in stockA large Hu form reddish earthenware vase, the exterior covered with a silvered green lead glaze. Both the form and the glaze colour are in imitation of contemporary bronze vessels. The nine-sided faceted foot shape is very rare.
This item was made in China during the middle period of the Han dynasty (206 BC to AD 220. Condition - very good. There are small chips and there is the usual glaze degradation consistent with two thousand years burial as are the root mark traces within the foot and internally. Much of the glaze on the rim has been 'cleaned' away.

Unusually, a family tree diagram (taped the back of the picture) indicates that it was acquired by a Captain John Yeo (b. 1823 d. 1863) who sailed between Fuzhou (Fujian province), Hong Kong and Liverpool during the early Victorian period.
