Condition: yellowed with age cracks but no damages or losses.

#1507 Japanese Carved Ivory Kannon Shrine , circa 1868 - 1911 **SOLD** to U.K. February 2017
Only 1 left in stockAn ivory clad pagoda form home shrine to the bodhisattva Kannon (known in China as Guanyin). The roof panels are carved with a dragon amongst stylized clouds and lotus leaves. The 'body' of the building housing the miniature Kannon is decorated with phoenix and bands of flowers and lotus petals. This item was probably made in Japan duringthe Meiji period (1868-1911)
Condition: there are two roof panels missing (one from the top and one from the back); a small door handle is missing and the roof edge and two of the corners of the pagoda base are chipped.
20cm (8 inches) high; 10cm (4 inches) wide at the base.

Only 1 left in stockAn exquisitely carved ivory umbrella handle depicting three monkeys at play. The base is signed. This item was made, circa 1890-1910, during the Meiji period.
Condition: There is the usual yellowing and age related cracks. The 'skeleton' of the umbrella is without fabric and this item is being sold either for renovation or for the handle.

一件雕刻精美的象牙伞柄,上有三只小猴在戏耍。底有署名。为日本明治时期约1890-1910年间的作品。
品相:因年代久远象牙有泛黄和开裂的迹象。伞骨架尚存,但伞布已失。长28.5厘米。2.2厘米见方。

Only 1 left in stockAn attractively carved okinomo, depicting three sparrows on a branch, made in Japan during the Meiji period (1868-1911) for export to Europe or the U.S.
Condition very good. There is one crack which runs through the centre of the branch and finishes as a hairline on the first birds head. The ivory displays the usual age yellowing - most visible on the back view.This item would have originally come with a carved wood base but will stand on its own on a stable horizontal surface.
